Where wanderlust meets waterfront glamping
Some stays give you a room. Hope gives you a story.
Meet Hope, the beautifully converted school bus at the heart of The Riviere Skoolie, a lakefront glamping retreat tucked along Long Creek on Lake Granbury. At the back of the bus, a queen bed looks out toward the water. Two twin beds, layered textiles, warm wood interiors, a hand-painted ceiling mural, and a kitchenette set for two complete a space that feels collected, creative, and entirely unexpected.
For many of us, a school bus was one of the first places where the journey became part of the memory. It carried us to school, field trips, Friday night games, band competitions, and places we experienced alongside friends. Conversations happened there. Friendships were formed there. Something about climbing aboard meant you were going somewhere.
Hope carries that familiar sense of anticipation into an entirely different season of life. The destination is now quiet water, slow mornings, firelit evenings, and time with someone who matters. The bus that once represented where you had to go has become a place that gives you permission to stay awhile.
The Riviere Skoolie was created by Ty and Jenna LeBlanc, the husband-and-wife team behind Life of the Modern Nomads. Ty brings more than two decades of luxury homebuilding experience, while Jenna brings the expressive design perspective behind Winton & Waits. Together, they transformed Hope into a retreat where nostalgia, thoughtful design, and outdoor living come together naturally.
Although Hope can accommodate up to four guests, the experience is especially well suited to couples seeking a romantic getaway, solo travelers looking for room to reset, and small adventurous families comfortable sharing one thoughtfully designed space.
Spend the morning kayaking along Long Creek, settle in beside the fire as evening arrives, play cards beneath the warm interior lights, or simply watch the water from bed.
Just Hope, the water, and a sky full of stars.
Some places simply exist to sleep. Hope exists to be felt. Tucked along Long Creek on Lake Granbury, this beautifully converted school bus carries the familiar spirit of childhood journeys into a different season of life. Here, the destination is slow mornings, firelit evenings, quiet water, and time with someone who matters. Just Hope, the water, and a sky full of stars.

Step through the door and the original driver’s seat offers an immediate reminder of where Hope’s story began. It recalls school mornings, field trips, football games, band trips, and all the places a familiar yellow bus once carried us. Today, Hope invites you on a different kind of journey, one measured in quiet water, warm light, and unhurried time together.
Overhead, a hand-painted ceiling mural flows the length of the bus in organic shapes and warm, sun-bleached tones. Twin beds line both sides of the interior, dressed in layered textiles and woven accents that feel collected over time. Custom cabinetry, warm wood finishes, stainless-steel kitchenette counters, and an intimate table set for two complete a space in which every detail feels intentional.
As evening settles over Long Creek, woven wall art catches the ambient light and the bus takes on a glow of its own. A game tray stocked with Dominoes, Campfire Poker, UNO, and playing cards waits for nights spent beside the fire, listening to the water and rediscovering the pleasure of having nowhere else to be.
Hope began as a school bus, but today every inch has been thoughtfully reimagined as a design-forward retreat along Long Creek on Lake Granbury. The hand-painted ceiling draws your eye upward, while warm woodwork, layered textiles, and intimate details invite you to slow down and stay awhile. The setting brings you here. The feeling is what brings you back.
This is what Jenna and Ty LeBlanc — the founders of Winton and Waits — build when they are building something for the love of it. Every detail was chosen. Every textile was placed. Nothing inside Hope is accidental.
Hope’s open-plan interior includes one queen bed and two twin beds, creating a shared glamping experience while giving each guest a comfortable place of their own.
Toward the front of the bus, two twin beds sit along opposite sides of the interior. Each has a dedicated reading light and its own cozy corner, making them ideal for children, friends, or guests who prefer separate beds.
At the rear of Hope, the queen bed offers an optional privacy curtain and a view of Long Creek through the back window. Open the curtain in the morning and the water is waiting just beyond your pillow.
Three beds, room for four, and a sleeping arrangement almost as memorable as the bus itself.
The outdoor setting at The Riviere Skoolie was designed to make the most of its peaceful location along Long Creek on Lake Granbury.
Three kayaks are provided for exploring the water directly from the property. Tree-lined banks and the old tin boathouse create a quiet paddling route that feels removed from the pace of everyday life.
In the evening, the fire pit and surrounding lounge seating become the natural gathering place. Hope glows in the background, string lights warm the space overhead, and the water settles nearby. A shaded dining nook and a separate side patio with styled seating and a statement umbrella offer two more places to enjoy meals, conversation, or a quiet cup of coffee.
A putting green, horseshoes, and yoga mats provide easy ways to play, move, or slow down between time on the water.
Just steps from the bus, the private bathhouse includes a flushing toilet, vanity, hot rain shower, handheld sprayer, and teak bench. The bathhouse is covered and enclosed for privacy while preserving the open-air character of the glamping experience.
From morning coffee beside Long Creek to evenings around the fire, the outdoor spaces are an essential part of staying at Hope.
The Riviere Skoolie offers a peaceful waterfront setting that feels tucked away while remaining part of the Modern Nomads Lake Granbury collection.
For larger groups, Hope can be reserved with The Noir and The Blanc as part of La Vie Lake Retreat. Guests needing even more space can add The Lake Château by reserving La Maison du Lac. These combinations allow friends and families to stay close together while still enjoying separate spaces of their own.
